From Darkness to Light: Assassin's Creed ignites the big screen this 2017 (A Movie Review)

Lightyears better than a recent highly-anticipated movie (let’s just say my expectations were so high until I went ‘Rogue’ for this movie was a total sleep-inducer), Assassin’s Creed is certainly the movie that we all should watch out for this 2017! This snapshot should excite you as it harks us back to enigmatic Andalucia, Spain, 500 years ago...
Thanks to the wonderful guys from 20th Century Fox (shoutout to Sir Francis Soliven and Ms. Mae Vecina), my family and I were treated to a night of thrill, an experience like no other especially since the Assassin’s Creed VIP screening was held in a Dolby Atmos theater, making us feel like we were running and fighting alongside the movie’s awesome characters!  Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, Assassin's Creed truly 'kills' it! Since I know you will all watch Assassin’s Creed, I won’t 'kill' it for you with spoilers; I will simply summarise its best points with my C.R.E.E.D.:
Creativity – clever at every manner you look at it, what I liked about it the most was how it entwined history with fantasy! The Assasins and the Knights Templar were real people. It all began with the Hashashins of Nizari Islam from which the term ‘assassin’ originates from. On the other side of the spectrum were the Knights Templar, by contrast, was a Christian order established for nearly two centuries during the Middle Ages. Officially sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church, Templar membership included some of the most important and feared figures of the age, and the group held enormous power and influence until its dissolution in 1312. Its sudden disbanding at the height of its power led to a belief that the organisation had simply gone underground, where it continued to exert its influence. ‘C’ may also stand for Covert… and Cosplay! Speaking of Cosplay, here I am posing with the Assassins… as their newest recruit, perhaps?
Resonance – I am not just talking about the total experience, that delights your senses at every scene. Yes the Dolby Atmos theater complemented the experience. But more than the outward sensibilities, I loved how the movie resonated the most complex ideologies and problems that have beset mankind for years. Underneath all that perfect cinematography and action scenes (thumbs up for the awesome stunts), what gave the movie heart was the depth of the issues: violence, obedience, Free Will. Indeed, is it truly right to fight for freedom, the chance to decide for ourselves, or would the world be a better place under one ruler?
Excitement – the movie has been more than what you’d expect from a video game adaptation. Excitement at every angle, the movie would keep you at the edge of your seats! Makes me wanna take up Parkour and Spanish lessons Pronto!
Engagement – Jeremy Irons, who played the role of Alan Rikkin, made me think when he spoke of how the Knights Templars had manipulated the world through the centuries using Religion, Politics and now, Consumerism and Science. It really makes you think… hasn’t such really been the case? Perhaps we are all just accessories and spectators of the few who run the show; that we are all powerless unless someone decides that it is our 'time.' I guess we will never know who runs the show; all I know is that you can't miss Assassin's Creed for you'll agree with me that it's one spectacular show!
Direction – In terms of cinematographic value, the movie was such a pleasant delight. Michael Fassbender did not just give justice to his role, Cal and his ancestor, Aguilar, but also gave him character. Fassbender, by the way is one of the producers of the film (so he has so much to prove not just as the lead actor). I would say all the characters were superb, the stunts were seamless (that it made me want to actually try those at home, LOL) and the story, fluid. What I did expect though, was a more defined ending, for my mind was processing all the action, but couldn’t reconcile the closing scenes of Cotillard and Fassbender. I think they could’ve added more dialogue. Here's another provocative scene from the movie...
Please watch Assassin’s Creed when it opens this JANUARY 4, 2017! For a complete experience, best to watch it in your favorite Dolby Atmos or 4D cinema, and get your family, hoodies, swords and knives ready for the most thrilling action film of 2017! Thanks for visiting!

Simply MAPPtastic: award-winning actress and mom, LJ Reyes launches the Mommy App!

Nothing spells MOMazing than a mother who can brave through life, living out her dreams, wearing many different hats, all while raising a child! Oh, let us not forget doing it all while looking good, in fact looking much younger and prettier than ever!
If there was one actress whose life story continues to inspire me, that would be the amazing, multi-talented and award-winning actress, LJ Reyes, who adds 'entrepreneur' to her long list of achievements! That is why it simply is my honour to serve as the master of ceremonies during the launch of her latest business; something close to her heart: the Mommy App or simply, MAPP! Search for #MAPPPh and #MommyAPP on social media for more photos of this MAPPriffic event!
Attended by countless stars, many from the Kapuso network, LJ Reyes spoke about the features of her MAPP-tastic app, and how she came about with this ingenious tool for parents. This is another video too during this memorable brand launch...

Mommy LJ herself showed everyone how to navigate through the app. You can see it right there and everyone downloaded it on their android phones already, as LJ walked us through. MAPP served as guide for everything under the sun for mommies and kids - from dining places, activity areas, and even promos and freebies! But the best thing about it for me was the first-aid feature, for while we would like to be out and about with our little ones, the thing is anything can happen, so it is always best to be safe and prepared. This is the App that all of us moms have long been waiting for! Soon, it will also be available on iOs, so watch out!
M.A.P.P. can now stand for (M) Marvelous... (A) Adventurous... (P) Perseverant and (P) Patient... just like how LJ is as a mom, an actress and a person... and how we moms, too, must continue to be - with the help from our loved ones and tools that can help us too... like MAPP!
Before the program came to a close, we were all treated to a heartfelt message... from no less than LJ's number one supporter and business partner... the handsome and talented actor, Mr. Paolo Contis! Love was truly in the air, what I love about LJ and Paolo's romance is that they are able to keep it low-key, just for the two of them and their loved ones to enjoy, a reflection of their genuinely humble and selfless personalities... He's one of the reasons why LJ looks so beautiful these days!
My Godric Matthew got to tag along too... Too bad I wasn't able to take snaps of LJ's very handsome and dapper boy, Ethan Akio who is sure to be a superstar heartthrob like his talented parents someday!
Thank you, LJ (And Forthinker PR, especially Ms. Trish De Jesus who got me to emcee) for trusting me with your event, and most of all, for the endless inspiration you offer. May God continue to bless your beautiful mind and heart for the many years to come and may your awesome endeavours just like MAPP, continue to bear fruit!
Thanks for visiting and don't forget to download this informative & entertaining app, MAPP today! Please don't forget to LIKE my Facebook page and also visit my events host portfolio, credentials as an emcee, online resources and hosting website via the links below:

Fun and Laughter with Cherifer: Create Genuine Fun Day, Camp Tangkad Sagad!

We all know Cherifer CGF stands for "Chlorella Growth Factor." But for me and the rest of Cherifer loves who came to Camp Tangkad Sagad, CGF now means: Create Genuine Fun! I co-hosted with momentous event with the amazing Jazper Tiongson! Only he can challenge my super energy when I emcee. But I guess he beats me because he dances and flies too! Am still working at it... So, walking back, here's my one and only video taken right after my partner Jazper and I closed the program where I invited them to stay until 7 pm for the amazing booths and freebies! Such a bright and vibrant event it was... Simply YELLOW-riffic!
First of all, thank you to my wonderful Sky Life family, especially Ms. Chrissy Caballero and her handsome smart son, Lyndel for discovering me and the rest is history. Photo below also features Ariel from Sky Cable too. And let's not forget my Global Visions Events and Marketing Network Inc. family - the best events group I could ever work with: fair, generous, kind and so easy to work with and all of our events are simply superb! I love them even the very professional floor & event director they get. Can't wait to blog about my Sky Dreamland event also with GVE and another cool project I recently had with them where I was a motivational speaker on leadership & personality development for a multinational brand's sales representatives! Can't wait to blog about those soon!
I am so blessed to regain my strength a little after two weeks, after my sudden appendectomy that I was still able to make this gig! I was quite glum that I had to let go of a few hosting jobs due to my appendicitis but I am better now and back in my game! In fact, this month has been crazy, I have a backlog of 20 events done, as I write this blog post.
This fantastic event was held in Marquee Mall Pampanga and as usual, the crowd was great! Just had to take a selfie with them in the background as Tectonix did their thing onstage, making the kids and the kids-at-heart go on a balloon rampage! I did too!
Games, games and more fun games! And a lot of dancing too, with this chubby and really tall Cherifer Kid! He is number one, like Cherifer!
But my favourite kid? This one below, proudly wearing JESUS, our Lord & Saviour, the One True God on his shirt, my forever love. Then this other li'l boy who joined us for this photo was welcome though he was shy and didn't tell me his name. What a cute coincidence that they got the same balloon freebies (balloon sword, shield, helmet) during the performance of Tectonix - the most colossal balloon act in the Philippines!
Jazper and I hosting this beautiful event for families, with almost a thousand attendees! I hope Jazper would agree with me when I say that it was so light working with him and we are the best tandem ever. Loved working with this funny man, Cherifer Jazper!
Our energy that day went something like this...
Hope you liked reading about our genuinely fun and wacky experience! You'd make me so crazy happy as this photo above if visit these other links below too... Keep creating genuine fun!

Glam-o-moms unite for Smart Parenting's "All about school age kids" workshop!

It's that very special time again, when moms unite to break the internet with social media posts with the hashtag #SPMomWorkshops ! I will be forever be thankful to the Summit Media team (Smart Parenting, Good Housekeeping & Yummy) for their trust! This time, I get to host the Smart Parenting Mom Workshops: All About School-age kids!
Moms just wanna have fun! My favourite line when it comes to mommyhood is this: "A mother can take the place of any other, but nobody can take the place of a mother." I am proud to say that I am very much my son's father as I am his mother. I am also his playmate, teacher, best friend, nurse, travel buddy and more (including spoiler, which I've been struggling to fix for years now). I thank God every moment with endowing me with so much talent and blessings. I pray He grants my handsome, kind-hearted (albeit still very shy) boy the same if not more blessings as he lives his beautiful life and grows into the man that God has intended for Him to be. I pray no matter what path he chooses, I am able to inculcate humility, wisdom and perseverance in him and most importantly - that Jesus Christ directs His path, and he succeeds in all his hopes and endeavours.
I also had the honor of emceeing the very first Smart Parenting workshop about babies and toddlers. Read back about it by following this link: Marylaine Viernes: Smart Parenting's All About Toddlers event
This truly empowering and humbling parenting workshop focused on fostering healthy habits ranging from creativity, resourcefulness when it comes to school work and financial literacy...
Would greatly appreciate it too if you could LIKE and SHARE Marylaine Louise Viernes Official Facebook Page and don't forget to click on these links below too for more of my many adventures as an events host! Thank you.

Ready, set, SALE! Hosting & Shopping becomes my sport at Alabang Town Center's Red Bucket Sale!

I am a champion for everyone wins at the Paint the Town Red Sale, where I literally got to paint the 'Town' red thanks to the Alabang Town Center who trusted with their much-awaited, highly-attended main event, the Red Bucket Sale! Behold, the fashion stadium! Your only weapons? Fashion smarts and that coveted red bucket!
This mall is very special to me for I grew up in Alabang Hills, and so before I get any more nostalgic, let me tell you why the Alabang Town Center's Red Bucket Sale, is extra special for me: It's because not only is the ATC one of my most favorite malls, but also because I got to share hosting duties with me lovely sister, Natalie Viernes
My sis and I briefing the ladies (and gents) who came ready to shop 'til they dropped... then fell in line again. It's Shop. Drop. Repeat! 15 minutes on the clock...
BUCKET ako napagod? Why did I get exhausted? Certainly not from hosting, talking non-stop or pushing the shoppers but because I too was blessed to have my own red bucket and shop away; and boy, was it so hard! So easy when I am the one just counting down the clock and giving the shoppers a pep talk, but it's so different when you're inside the Red Bucket Fashion arena! Check out my video below as I huffed, puffed and tried to squeeze in my items into my very own red bucket. I got a good workout! See, shopping is truly a sport!
There were so many waves so here's another Day 2 video of me conditioning the Red Bucket athletes for the most exciting, exhilarating fashion ride this year:
And this time... we get to walk back to Day 1... here I am opening this splendid day! RED-y, set, go!!!
Can't get enough of this red-hot fashion action! Check out this video below too... If only I can host and shop every single day...
And of course, events won't be complete without my cattle call! Here I am gladly doing some V.O.s before passing on the microphone torch to my sister for the rest of the afternoon waves!
It was such a memorable day! Here I am on the TOP Spot! I got to shop 7,000 pesos worth of items! Sweeeeet!!! We all can get used to this clothes buffet sport! Even the gentlemen who availed tickets had tons of fun too!
Simply a RED-ical experience! Over 2,000 clothing items replenished after every run... 60 shoppers per wave... and only 15 minutes to full your bucket to the brim. Only this game puts your shopping, choosing, folding and stuffing skills to the test!
 Ta-ta... Shop more I gotta!!!
Thank you for 'shopping' by my blog today! Click on below too...

In good company: Hosting Baby Company's star-studded store inauguration (Part 1)

Really can't get enough of this awesome experience. For this post, I will share a few awesome videos not just of myself hosting this delightful event, but also getting to interview the beautiful celebrity moms that we had that day... First are these two homes video where I strived to open this shiny, shimmering, splendid show with a 'Baby' Bang!
Where do I even begin writing about with this brilliant, all-star mom affair by Baby Company, the Baby Specialist? Well perhaps, I should once again thank the beautiful Ms. Cheryl Justiniano, AVP Marketing of Baby Company who I met years back and it's been a memorable journey since, starting with their annual Baby Company Grand Baby Fairs which I am so proud to be part for how many years now, I can't even count anymore! I still wonder how she got my details, but hey you don't have to worry about things like those. And a big thank you too to the rest of the amazing Baby Company ladies who are truly beautiful inside out: Ms. Kyla of Marketing, Ms. Maby of Merchandising, who is sooo funny and sweet and Ms. Lani Del Castillo SAVP Merchandising. But we cannot forget their lovely and kind-hearted big boss SVP-Operations, Ms. Theresa Ponce! Again thank you for your trust and I pray to work with you for the years to come.
I can still feel the buzz of this day... I left right away that day for my son had a bit of a fever (thus the reason why I wasn't able to bring him along when he usually likes to join me for mall events and play Pokemon Go) so even if I was slightly stressed that day, seeing people who were beautiful inside and out - mothers too - from bloggers to celebrity mums, was such a nice breath of fresh air!
The event was graced by celebrities turned supermoms from actresses Iya Villania, who cut the ribbon along with the Baby Company VIPs, Nadine Samonte, Tanya Garcia and also supermodels such as Kelly Misa, Nicole Hernandez and my favorite, Patty Laurel simply because I always meet her in mom events (most recently at Smart Parenting's Baby Shower where she was one of our resource speakers) and she never fails to brighten up my day with her friendly, down-to-earth vibe, and her sincere words of light and affirmation.
Beaming as Iya shares some of her most intimate preggy adventures...
And let's not forget this beautiful mom-of-five, Ms. Joy Woolbright Sotto, who instantly told me, "Mary I remember you," about the time we were both grocery shopping and I gushed at her delightful little boy, Sandro, her third child who is just a ball of energy. I also told her his superb dancing skills and eating videos were one of the reasons I follow them on Instagram. I congratulated her for finally having her much prayed for princess, her only daughter. She just recently gave birth and for the event only had her brood of 4 good-looking young men in tow who I also got to interview...
And now, more of the pretty mommy of baby Theo, Patty Laurel Filart who indulges me as I check out her Baby Company shopping cart... check out these two videos where she shares her baby must-haves. See how she loves shopping only at Baby Company!
And the crown of this post goes to the beautiful Shamcey Supsup Lee, Binibining Pilipinas Universe, who I got to do the Baby Company Runway Walk! From winning international pageants, she is a winner in my book, having gamely showed us all that we too can be beauty queens, in the aisles of Baby Company, at least! I really admire Shamcey not just for being a beauty queen but also because of her astounding academic achievements: graduating Magna Cum Laude from U.P. Diliman and also being a board topnotcher in the licensure exams for architects. Now, apart from being a TV personality and architect, she is a restauranteur too. More than a beauty queen supermodel, she is a role model for all girls and mommies out there!
Thank you for this honor, Baby Company! To all my friends and visitors, please feel the glee when you visit any Baby Company stores, especially their biggest one to date in SM Megamall, which is already their 62nd store... Congratulations to the Baby Specialist!
Thanks for visiting my blog and to all the moms and moms-to-be, make sure you also visit Baby Company's SM Megamall store; I would say it's the largest and most vibrant store I've been to so far! And of course, stay happy; keep sweetly smiling and brightly shining!

Shopping with the stars at Baby Company Megamall's grand store inauguration (Part 2)

Can't get enough of the newest Baby Company store, which recently opened in SM Megamall! It's a 600 square meter store with a modern style but with the same if not better shopper-friendly attributes.  They put their awesome Merchandise on the spotlight thru artistic application of colours, lighting and systematic merchandise grid. Welcome to the newest and most exciting Baby Company store!
I absolutely love Baby Company! And I also love these three beautiful ladies from Baby Company, posing with one of our glowing superstar mommies for the day, Ms. Iya Villania. From left to right are Mrs. Tess Ponce, SVP for Operations, Ms. Lani head of Merchandising and of course, Ms. Cheryl Justiniano, head of Marketing who I owe so much to as she was the one who found me and got me to host their Baby Company Grand Baby Fair a few years ago... forever thankful for this company of intelligent and kind-hearted women!
Here's more of this memorable BABY-TASTIC event of Baby Company, in celebration of their Megamall store inauguration. This time, let's zoom in on the superstar mommies who came, shopped and conquered! First up, the ever-beautiful and down-to-earth Patty Laurel-Filart! I've met her for like the fifth time now whenever I host events for she's a suki celeb guest and speaker and she deserves it; always ready to spare kind and delightful words each time I meet her. From her smile alone, you can already see how much fun she had during this grand milestone for Baby Company, the Baby Specialist...
Checking out Patty Laurel's shopping cart; only the best finds for her adorable son Theo... Baby Company is definitely the place to be... for all you loving mommies, daddies and parents-to-be!
In good (and good-looking) Company. Another mom I look up to, the beautiful and bedazzling Ms. Joy Sotto, and her four handsome boys. From left to right are Sandro who's an amazing dancer, Rosanno the youngest among the boys, Igu (the one I personally find the most good looking) and the kuya of the bunch, Hugo. And I know their names by heart for I follow her on Instagram. Congratulations too for having a beautiful princess. Yes, this lovely Baby Company Mombassador is actually a mom of 5 as she had given birth to her much-prayed for daughter not too long ago. It's the perfect time to shop in Baby Company!
This time, I got to interview Mommy Joy Sotto with her eldest, where they shared their top picks for the two younger boys and of course, for their beautiful little princess!
Plus more lovely stellar mommies spotted! I got to interview the host of Chika Minute, a primetime showbiz news segment on GMA 7's 24 Oras, Ms. Iya Villania... isn't she a lovely preggy woman? Thanks to Baby Company, all mommies too can look as pretty as Iya, thanks to the convenience they alone can give to moms and moms-to-be!

Let's not miss the lovely Kelly Misa who was excited to pick out wonderful items for her son which she can find only here at the Baby Specialist... Baby Company!
Kelly also dishes out tips and tricks when it comes to shopping for our biggest joys: our little ones...
Last but most certainly not the least, I got to chat with one of the young ladies I admire most - Ms. Shamcey Supsup, an international beauty queen, now also a restauranteur and proud mom to her beautiful little baby girl, Nike! Check out my video too where I got this beauty to walk the shopping runway at Baby Company's grand aisles. Every mom's a beauty queen, with Baby Company!
Indeed, there is no other baby specialist when it comes to infant feeding, caring, playing, sleeping, learning and more! Make sure that you also shop smart like our superstar moms above and have your MOM CARDS with you! This is Baby Company's loyalty program. It is meant to reward frequent shoppers through rebates, exclusive offers, special events and other privileges. The more you shop, the more rebates you earn.
Thanks for dropping by; please visit these other sites too...
