Hop aboard our Guamforgettable and Guamazing Journey...

Prelude: Check out this cool video at the Slingshot in Tamuning Guam... which I never tried for I was too much of a coward while my son dauntlessly hopped on and tried it... so much for being a good and protective mother...
For a change, I now take breather from writing about my endless event host gigs which I am always thankful and excited about. Let me write about my recent journey to unforgettable Guam. I have so many un-posted hosting adventures (one was a wild kick-off summer party with Cosmopolitan magazine at the Palace Pool Club and an even wilder male bidding charity event led by Love Yourself AIDS awareness foundation) but let's save those for another post soon as I find the time. Let me walk back to my mesmerising trip to Guam USA! Check out my smug little stowaway who managed to join my trip after praying, crying and demanding that he comes along five hours before my flight...
Funny though as everyone at work and my family knew that it was a soul searching and writing sojourn; just myself to pray and write, and keep writing during the Holy Week, especially as Saint Pedro Calungsod, in whose honor the Chapel I serve for was named after, died in Tamuning Guam and that's what I had wanted to connect to deeply. I was supposed to go alone but my mom insisted that my brother joins since we knew nobody here, unlike in LA where we have a ton of friends. So here I was with my brother and my son's leg - we decided to rent a car from the hotel, and it gave us mobility and freedom to explore any time that we wanted. I would suggest those visiting Guam do the same too, and book via their hotels to avail a big discount. Philippine driver's license accepted! I am sporting my Chamorro sun-kissed look, and my brother-slash-driver, his typical sunburnt look...
So as my story goes, it was supposedly just my brother and me, but then my cheeky little boy did not allow me to go if he wasn't going to go, and being the putty in his hands, I booked him a ticket last minute and by God's grace, only paid about two thousand pesos higher than the tickets I purchased for my brother and I. And the rest of the trip was all about him! Here we were at Two Lovers Point...
This was his moving-up gift and pre-birthday gift too, and I don't regret bringing him along last minute (even with my friends chiding me how I can never say No to him). Whenever I look about last month's trip, my heart brims with joy as even if what i intended to spend the week writing, relaxing and praying, I still got to do so, but only in different circumstances (I took a different form of prayer - bonding with my delighted son, teaching him about God's endless glory, in this new beautiful place, and I did get to write, on the airplane and when we are not at Chuck E. Cheese's). But yes, we were always at Chuck E. Cheese's!
And you guessed it... the next day we were back again at good ole Chuck E's! But the food was really good; I'd have to agree with my son who said that theirs was the best pizza we've ever tasted!
Plus, we had to visit Underwaterworld in Tamuning Guam, too. All my aquarium photos were terrible (It was just sad how I couldn't take a decent photo of the humongous sea turtle, the stingrays, the sharks and all the strange fish due to bad lighting), so this one would have to do... can you say Shark-tastic?!?
We also had a date with his most favorite character of all time.. Darth Vader! I don't know if I ought to be scared or if I should be fine with his fascination with the dark side... no matter how many times I convince him that he's a Jedi knight padawan... he corrects me and says that he's a Sith! I guess that's how it is when you are Sith years old (6 y/o)!
And of course, before we returned our rented vehicle, we needed to gas up! Everything was a fun learning experience for my boy...
Hope you liked the few tips and highlights of our incredible, incredible time in Guam, which I will forever be thankful for. Can't wait to fly out again, to take a well-deserved vacation somewhere new and nice, but for now, I am simply thankful for the chance to work and excel within my various passions, with enough blessings to keep my contented, but with God's promises clearer than ever, to keep me in hopeful and faithful yearning. I thus close with these beautiful words from St. Augustine, and may my friends and family who ask why I never stop working understand... that I take so much pride and derive so much joy in all of my activities, as I try to get things right with Christ. Certainly dwelling on my past mistakes; can't wait for the fruits of the Spirit to manifest in my life. Focused on my own journey more than ever.

Diamonds are forever: Celebrating HGS-Aetna's 10 year partnership and beyond

It's been a while since my last post; I've been experiencing so much blessings; growth in my day job, and an ever-exciting weekend and evenings as an events host (Read: fully booked for the entire summer, this weekend, I even had to let go of three other hosting offers, huhuhu) and something tells me, it will be one busy season too, even after the summertime! Plus, I have gotten to organize a few parties, too! Sure, I don't have the luxury of rest but getting to do what I love, and especially for the people I love and respect makes all the hard work worth it! Exciting times up ahead; I can't and won't slow down.
This Diamond Night was held at the Crimson Hotel Alabang... and I had a blast walking on the red carpet as with the members of the organisation... we were all meant to shine bright like Diamonds that night... this was what it was all about!
So here I am in one of the previous months' events, where I had the honor and the pleasure of hosting for such a beautiful gala, aptly entitled, "A diamond night: The HGS-Aetna 10th anniversary celebration. This memorable affair is a toast to the decade-long partnership of the country's first-ever BPO Company, Hinduja Global Solutions, and their client, AETNA. I am just so proud because HGS is the first-ever call center to set up shop here in the Philippines!
Thank you so much HGS-Aetna and Sixth Sense IMS for your trust!

Hosting for women of substance at the Unilever CatEx Awards Night

It was truly a night to remember: all dressed in royal blue, a la Pia Wurtzbach, (the third Miss Universe to hail from the Philippines), I got to emcee for the most beautiful women I have ever seen; each confidently beautiful, and each with the strong, indefatigable heart of a Filipina. My first time to host for Unilever Philippines, for their scintillating gala set to honour the best category experts and ambassadors for their beauty and home care brands.
Everything was bright, blue, brilliant... truly beautiful! Or more like Be-U-tiful...
Having a chat with these three lovely girls onstage in photo below... can't get over the theme's mesmerising royal blue & silver colour motif... I just feel like a beauty queen too! That night, we were all Miss U's... maybe not Miss Universe; more of Miss Unilever... Definitely, everyone shone bright that night!
I loved the fact that this event - more than just celebrate these ladies' contributions to this multinational corporation - served to empower and inspire all the ladies who've attended. They honoured three heroes for this year, three ladies with a story each: one a wife and mother who has fought to keep her family intact, another a single mother who has braved life's uncertainties for the sake of her beautiful daughter, and the last a survivor of personal tragedies that have made her into the woman that she was today. Different ages, paths, characters and destinies, but same beautiful and mighty hearts!
As usual, I did spill out some of my usual inspiring spiels, but only because I too was inspired, being in the company of women who were set to soar high but at the same time had their heels firmly planted on the ground. This is your night, ladies, may you continue excelling at your craft as category and product experts, and may you continue inspiring us all with your strength, beauty and wisdom! Truly, from beauty queens as in the case of the current Miss Universe, to these product ambassadors - category experts, Filipinas are truly world-class, definitely worth it. And being master of ceremonies of this event makes me proud to be Filipina!

Glad to MIT you at the Mitsubishi Air Philippines Dealer Conference

So elated was I to emcee for another meaningful corporate event: the MIT-AIR Philippines (Mitsubishi Air Conditioner) Dealers Conference 2016, held at the breathtaking Marriot Grand Ballroom, Resorts World Manila! Esteemed Mitsubishi principals from Japan and Thailand flew all the way from their respective bases to take part in this momentous affair. Here I am below with Mr. Andre See, MIT-AIR Vice President who trusted me to be the master of ceremonies of this conference...

Rhythms, young love and sweet notes with #BAILONA at Robinsons Galleria

The sweetest little girl in the whole wide world... meet my BFF Chin-chin!
This year's was definitely the best Valentine's Day ever! I may not be dancing to romantic tunes this Valentine's season, but that doesn't mean that my Valentine's day didn't brim with so much love. In fact, this year's unforgettable Valentine's Day proved to be the sweetest one so far... I've seen that Love comes in different forms, and I can most certainly say that love for my craft, and people expressing their love towards me and what I do truly makes my heart sing with joy! This is the sweetest Valentines card I ever got, only from my dear CHIN-CHIN:
I have been dubbed, "B.H.E." (In the Philippines, Bhe is a mass term for lover; the shortened form of 'Babe' or 'Baby') but it's not the Bhe that you think; it actually stands for BEST HOST EVER. Now that melts my heart all over again! And what makes it extra special is that this beautiful young lady here, named Chin Chin who I met in a few events I have hosted last year for Robinson's Galleria made this amazing card herself! Here I am with her lovely mom too, Ms. Thet who heads the marketing division for Galleria...
There was just so much love that day; I was so glad to be the emcee for the highly-anticipated "Rhythm of Love" concert at Robinsons Galleria with one of the hottest love teams today, #BaiLona which is comprised of the lovely Ylona Garcia and Bailey May (can you believe they're both only 13 years old? Oh, to be young and in love...) who are not just talented and popular, but both very kind and humble young superstars.
Check out their huge following... it was a record-breaking lovevent indeed! (Lovevent = Love Event) #BAILONA the monicker of this adorable duo made everyone fall in love...
Giving the hottest love team some good ole Love Advice... and my only advice is... Don't listen to me when it comes to love and romance! LOL.
Yes it was one happy hearts' day celebration indeed; it makes me realize the many blessings I continue to enjoy, in this amazing life I am truly very thankful to live! And here I was backstage with #BAILONA... can you believe they're both only around 14? Don't even ask how old I am okay! Oh, to be young and in love...
Don't just work for a living... in whatever you do, make sure it's love and life you're giving!
I am just thankful that I love what I do and do what I love!

Three times the fun and the dumplings: My Kung Fu Panda 3 Movie Review

DumpliMazingly Kung Fu-Riffic! Where do I start with my Kung Fu Panda review? (1) The fact that the overall 3D experience was such a thrilling ride, with the Dragon Warrior, Po, and a whole new dumpling-bowl of adorable characters... (2) that the movie was so well-written so I was thinking "the Kung Fu Panda series couldn't be more inspiring than the last two ones," but guess what, I was blown away like a kung fu kick in my brain by the twists in the plot leading to yet another colourful destiny of our huggable black-and-white hero and his posse (3) the pre-show: seeing Kung Fu Panda Po himself show off his signature Kung Fu moves live before the premier screening thanks to Warner Brothers Philippines (thanks Sir Francis Soliven & Ms. Mae Vecina), or (4) the fact that the movie truly speaks to us all... indeed, my friends and family who were also invited to the screening could truly relate to the story; we felt as though it was written for us. Let me just share my top 10 favorites dumplthings about it! I will try not to spoil it for you...
1. More servings of Pandumplings. Imagine, our beloved Po, times ten! More kung fu, more fun, more cuteness and loads of dumplings! Even if they all look the same, each of the new Panda characters will surely stand out with their special traits and talents... Po truly knows how to share the cuteness and the awesomeness!
2. Confidently beautiful with a Heart - and so much Art! Yes, it is a winner in the universal scene, witty lines that appeal to kids and the kids at heart! I will never forget what Shifu remarked: "If you only do what you CAN do, you will never be more than you are now." Indeed, this strikes straight to my heart, for reasons I will share someday... Indeed, the story boils down to us finding who we are, and ultimately accepting ourselves, acknowledging our places in this world. I myself am guilty for trying to be who I am not, and running away from who I truly am. I know Destiny can only catch up to me if I allow myself to; and like the path of the Dragon Warrior, it is not a fun, easy, breezy road! And may I just add that the Shangri-la like lair of the Pandas was simply breathtaking! Beautiful and artful in all scenes, indeed! And to make the art more special, the movie resonates truth as with most of the Pandas' qualities - such as their carefree stance and rolling - literally rolling down hillsides- are all true traits of these wonderful creatures!
3. Panda Ponder This. No need to ponder about why it was such a terrific big screen experience; Dreamworks studios kicked the digital experience up a notch. I never truly enjoyed watching in 3D until Kung Fu Panda 3! Every single feature in the film was notable - from the color tones (perfect, especially on the otherworld, all that golden chi!) from the well-drawn new characters brought to life to Pandariffic ease. Everything about this movie was simply perfect!
How cute are these furry dumplings? Beyond cute!!!
4. Tigress and the Crew. And by this I mean the A list stars who gave life to the characters. Photo not mine, credits to the owner/s. I mean this photo doesn't need much explaining... Wow, just wow... and I thought that our screening was the most awesome advance screening of all... Kung figure (Go figure)...
5. Life in Black & White means all the colors combined. I loved how Po and his furry buddies (family, actually) in Black & White . Here's my movie buddy and BFF for life with his Dragon Warrior Panda-popcorn bucket and Li Shan atop his kung fu drink! There were just so many awesome things about this screening! It was so much Pan(da)! I mean it was so much fun!!!
6. Chi-riffic Bad-ass Villain. This Jade-blade wielding Yak named 'KAI' brings me the chills for he was all-seeing, all powerful. His name in Oriental regions is synonymous to strong and unbreakable. Even if everyone hates the bad guy, there is so much to learn from Kai: his journey, his tenacity in learning from his surroundings that led to his ruthless return. A few things that I already knew, and which Kai taught us kids, is that greed will lead you nowhere. Indeed, how many of the mightiest and most entitled figures in history fall blind in their pride and finally perish in selfishness. And I guess that his choice of a weapon, Jade  blades (green which is the color of envy) also resonates to our nature of always believing that the grass is greener on the other side, and how envy deters us from realizing our potential, from understanding what we are here for... something that the chosen one, the pure-hearted, selfless Dragon Warrior Po never allowed himself to succumb to. Kai is such the bad guy, but you gotta hand it to him; he was bad-ass too!
7. Who's your PanDaddy now? As what we've all seen in the awesome trailers, Po is reunited with his biological father. But that doesn't mean that his loving, adoptive father and noodle warrior Mr. Ping will have any less screen time! Indeed, for a time, Po was torn between who is truly is father, but more so, who he truly is. It is simply beautiful how it reflects the often sad reality of broken homes and families due to whatever reason, but with Love and Acceptance - as in the case of Po - without a mother, only two fathers - life may not be perfect, but it will always be beautiful. Po has the best of both worlds: his biological father, Li Shan, and his logical father, Ping - both who love him in their own, even queer, imperfect ways.
8. Make way for the master: Oogway! Come on, Po, admit it; you won't ever be the dragon warrior if not for the wisdom, courage and selflessness of Oogway! Up to this date (and already in a different plane), Oogway plays a very significant role in the film. And can I just gush how much I love my pet Tortoise? Just seeing my very own Baby Oogway chew his clover-shaped weeds, grass and on special days, his rose petals and watermelons is just so therapeutic! That's why I am not surprised with how the movie producers still make sure that Oogway gets his way. Tortoises are just so zen, so amazing, and just like Oogway, they live for eternity, and I don't mean just in the next life... Here's my Baby Oogway, Sammy the Tortoise munching on greens and rose petals...
9. The inspiring quotes.. I can still recall the first movie's super popular line: Yesterday is History... Tomorrow is a Mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it's called, The Present." This movie was brimming with so many gems of wisdom as usual: from Master Oogway to Mister Ping... there's something to learn from the mesmerizing scenes!
10. The importance of a Grand Entrance. Indeed, they say that most of what matters in life is how you fare in the end. But may I just stress the value of coming in strong, righteously, correctly in the start. Like what Shifu told Po about the value of a dramatic entrance, sometimes, battles are won on the first round - and doesn't that make life all the easier? Doesn't that allow us more battles to fight and win? And more than just entering the Kung Fu training temple, the dramatic entrance of Po to the other realm, as he saved his family and friends from Kai in an unexpected and heart-rending manner said so much about what he is made of: pure, selfless, loving energy. And that is why he is the master of Chi, to add to his accolades, the other most famous being "the Dragon Warrior." And to those who are unable to make the grandest of entrances, then it is time to make sure that we make up for it; and at least make sure that we have an honourable exit.
*****
I think I already wrote a (dumpling) mouthful already; time for you to make your dramatic entrances in the the nearest cinema (ideally 3D for the perfect experience) for you to actually feel what I share from my heart. Great job Po, it was one memorable experience with you and you equally awesome buddies!
Excuse the Panda-eye-bags and Panda fat soreness... just focus on Po please. LOL.
